Pumpkin Run and Halloween Parade….
Parent Conferences
Our parent teacher conferences were a huge success with most families meeting teachers through MSTeams. Thank you to all the families for being patient with the process of using the “Bookings” app as it was new to our staff this year. Teachers will continue to reach out to families with information on how to access on-line platforms (eg. RAZ, Mathletics and MSTeams) for greater communication and learning options for at home. If you have any questions please contact your classroom teacher.
Staffing Updates
I would like to welcome Mr. Dave Mori, our school counsellor, who will be with us on Wednesday and Friday mornings. We would also like to welcome Ms. Melissa Nemeth to our full time support staff and Ms. Amanda Stevenson as our prep teacher who will be with us all day Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. Absences & Late Arrivals, etc.
If your child will be late or absent from school, please call the school office at 604-517-6020 by 8:55 a.m. or visit the office to report in person. To keep our students safe by verifying student attendance as quickly as possible each day, it is important that parents and guardians use this central reporting system. Voicemail messages can be left 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for your convenience. Please do not use email to report student absences as not all emails are monitored regularly. While it can be helpful to teachers and/or other staff to also advise them of upcoming absences all absences must be reported to the school office by phone or in person.
Pumpkin Run
Thursday, October 22nd we will have our school Pumpkin Run! The forecast is looking great so we do plan on having the event outside! This day will be a Howay Spirit Day so please dress in your pumpkin and or/fall colours (eg. orange, black, white). Save-On-Foods is donating 18 pumpkins for our run! Thank you Save-On-Foods! Each class will receive 3 pumpkins for a student draw.
Halloween Parade
Unfortunately, we will not be able to have our annual Halloween assembly but we will still have great fun with our new parade event! Weather permitting, we will have our annual Halloween Parade outside on Friday, October 30th at 2:30pm. Students will parade through the hallways to show their costumes and then head outside to the front area of the school if the weather cooperates. We encourage students to wear costumes but please leave accessories such as swords or other toy weapons at home
Traditionally, we would welcome treats and homemade snacks on this day for classroom parties but due to specific guidelines around food sharing we will not have class parties with shared food or treat hand outs.

PAC Meetings
Please join the PAC on Monday, November 2nd, 2020 from 7:00 to 8:30pm for a virtual PAC meeting.
