Spuds in Tubs
This year Mrs. Scott’s Kindergarten and Mrs. Polukoshko’s Grade One classes participated in the “Spuds and Tubs” program. Right before going on spring break in March we planted 5 seed potates in 5 large tubs in each of our classrooms. The students were amazed to see how much they had grown after coming back from spring break! As the temperature got warmer outside the tubs were later moved out to our garden in the courtyard. Over the three months, students were able to care for and observe their potato plants growing. Last week, the students eagerly harvested the potatoes. We grew over 800 small potatoes in total! Our classes are looking forward to celebrating our bountiful harvest with potato sundaes (mashed potatoes, sour cream, cheese and chives- yummy!)
