Updates for October!

“A Good Thing Happened at Howay”

Howay Helping Hands – This month we are collecting socks for Socktober! We have reached our super goal of 500+ pairs of socks to donate to the Look Out Society Shelter of New Westminster. This year Ms. Phelan has agreed to participate in a challenge if we met our goal. Well …. Howay met the goal and exceeded it!  Ms. Phelan will now have to participate in the challenge which will take place after the Halloween parade in a school assembly!  (Hint: slime is involved!)

Hume Park and Brunette River Field Trip

We had our first school wide field trip to Lower Hume Park and Brunette River. It was a wonderful day of exploration and learning!

Halloween Parade

Students and staff are invited to dress up and participate in our annual Halloween parade during the afternoon of October 31st (optional participation). If students are choosing to wear a costume, please remember to keep special costume pieces at home so they do not get lost or broken. Students will also need to leave toy weapons that are part of costumes at home.

It looks like we will have the parade in doors this year due to rainy forecast. Families are welcome to join us at 1:30 for our assembly and parade. It will be great fun to see the costumes as well as watch our super challenge event where Ms. Phelan will possibly get slimed.

Remembrance Day Assembly

This year our Remembrance Day Assembly will be held in our gymnasium for a whole school event. Families are welcome to join our assembly.

The assembly will be held on Thursday, November 10th at 11:15.
