Have a great summer!
Dear Howay Families,
What an exciting year we have had at Howay with a variety of special learning opportunities and a few more events and field trips! The last few months have been exciting for students as we once again experienced fieldtrips on a school bus, had whole school assemblies, participated in our annual Runathon with parent volunteers, invited our new Kindergarten students to a very special Welcome to Kindergarten event and much more! The staff are once again so appreciative of our parent community. The PAC have provided our school with hot lunch opportunities, field trips and supported the Fish on Fence program. We are so grateful for the efforts you have put forward with fundraising as it has made our year even more memorable. If you have not had a chance to get a close look at our beautiful fence, please make sure to check it out!
I would also like to take the time to say some farewells. This year we are saying our good-byes to Dr. Jeanne Kentel and Ms. Leah Wong. Both Dr. Kentel and Ms. Wong taught Division 2 this year. Dr. Kentel will be teaching at Skwo:wech Elementary next year. We wish all the best to both Dr. Kentel and Ms. Wong.
Lastly, I would like to say our goodbyes to our Grade 5s and all the families that are leaving Howay this year. I have been fortunate to have worked with our Grade 5 students and families for the last 4 years. The Grade 5s showed up everyday with bright smiles and carried out their day with kindness, respect, and enthusiasm. Good luck to you in Grade 6 at your new schools!
Our last day of school for students is this Wednesday, June 29th and we have an early dismissal that day at 2:00 pm. School will reopen on Tuesday, September 6th from 8:50 am to 9:55 am.
