Report a Student Absence

Absences & Late Arrivals, etc.

If your child will be late or absent from school, please call the school office at 604-517-6020 by 9:00 a.m. or visit the office to report in person. To keep our students safe by verifying student attendance as quickly as possible each day, it is important that parents and guardians use this central reporting system.

Voicemail messages can be left 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for your convenience.  Please do not use email to report student absences as not all emails are monitored regularly.

While it can be helpful to teachers and/or other staff to also advise them of upcoming absences all absences must be reported to the school office by phone or in person.

If your child will be arriving after the bell, please visit the office when you arrive to sign them in.

COVID related tracking by Fraser Health

As Fraser Health has transitioned away from contact tracing, they will now be using absentee rates to track what is happening in individual districts, schools and classrooms. Our staff are working hard every day to carefully track attendance and report any instances of unusually high absences.

Here’s what you can do to help us accurately report our attendance anomalies to Fraser Health:

  • Please make sure that if your child is going to be away for any reason that you report the absence, directly to us, as early as possible.
  • When you report the absence, please be clear about reason:
    • If your child is ill (any type of illness), state “illness” as the reason.
    • Please note: if your child has been instructed to self-isolate because they are a confirmed close contact to someone with COVID-19, but are not showing symptoms and have not tested positive themselves, this is NOT AN ILLNESS.
    • If you are keeping your child home for any reason other than an illness (e.g. an appointment, family vacation, out of an abundance of caution or some other “by choice” reason), please clearly specify why your child will be absent.
