January updates
Dressing for winter weather
This is a friendly reminder that we go outside rain or shine and students are usually outdoors between 45 minutes to 1.5 hours everyday. Please make sure to dress your children for cold and wet weather as we still have a few months of winter. It is also important to have an extra pair of socks and pants to change into, as sometimes students slip or get splashed.
Our School Learning Plan is also focused on getting outdoors to explore nature and develop our curiosity and creativity. Students’ classroom learning time will have portions of the week where they are outside or walking in our neighborhood to explore local parks (even on rainy days!)
What we hope to achieve with our School Learning Plan …
Students, staff and parents will feel more connected to our outdoor spaces and to each other and demonstrate a sense of curiosity and wonder for our community park spaces and nature.
Family Literacy Day
Family Literacy Day is coming up on Friday, January 27th! We are excited to share this day with our families. Parents and/or guardians are welcome to join your children in their classroom on the morning of January 27th from 8:55 – 9:20. This will be a great event to share books and favourite literature as well as enjoy some time with our school community.
Last day for registration
The last day for registration (for new students or incoming Kindergarten students) is January 27th. Please click here for registration information and instructions
Save the Date – Student/Parent/Teacher Conferences
Student/Parent/Teacher conferences will be held on February 8th and 9th. Students will be dismissed at 12:24 and the conferences will run from 1:30 – 4:30. This will be an open house format where families will choose which day and time works best for them. Most families spend approximately 20 minutes in their child’s classroom sharing and discussing student learning and goals. We will send home more information to families as each teacher is in the planning process for these dates.
PAC Dates
Our monthly PAC meetings are the first Monday of every month. The next meeting is Monday, February 6th, 7pm start via zoom and in person (school library).
Family Dance – Friday, February, 10th from 6:30 – 8:30 in the Howay Gymnasium. The Family dance is free for your household to enjoy. Show off your glowing hearts by wearing white or neon to the dance. The PAC concession will have some treats and goodies for sale. This event is sponsored by our PAC.
Starting February 7th the PAC will be running it’s first ever Winter favourites Neufeld farms fundraiser. Delivery will be early March. Time to restock or try new products.
Construction
Construction has begun for the daycare facility that will be built on the upper field of our school grounds. This area will be under construction for the next several months. We will have fencing around trees as well as the construction zone. Please be mindful of these areas when using our school grounds on the weekend as well as after school.

Wear plaid and/or cozy fleece on this day. Get out your fun plaid patterns and cozy fleece for this spirit day! |
