October/November Updates
We were fortunate to have a beautiful day for our Halloween parade! It was a fun day with lots of great energy and fun Halloween spirit!
Our virtual Remembrance Day Assembly was also a great success! Our Grade 5 students from Division 1 did a great job writing poems and sharing with the whole school through MS Teams. A special thanks to our two Master of Ceremonies, Fred and Megha and to Division 2 for the song they performed – “The White Cliffs of Dover”
REMINDER: Dressing for West Coast Weather
It will be very rare that we have students stay inside at recess and lunch due to inclement weather (We had only 1 inside day so far – Nov. 15th!) so please ensure that your children are dressed to be outside every day for a minimum of 1 hour.
Clothing that supports rain and winter weather: raincoats, mittens, warm winter jackets, boots
Important items for students to keep extras at school: socks and pants
We are encouraging families to have your children leave an umbrella at school as well as extra clothes – students have personal coat hooks and cubbies to keep umbrellas and extra clothes.
F.W. Howay School Learning Plan
The 2021-2022 school year will focus on our structure of support from non-enrolling teachers and support staff (i.e., Learning Support Teacher, ELL teacher, Teacher Librarian, Education Assistants, Child and Youth Care Worker, Indigenous Support Worker and Counsellor) and to develop a literacy focused collaborative model of dialogue.
WHAT WE HOPE TO ACHIEVE
Implement a structure of support that builds on a whole staff collaborative approach to enhance and develop student literacy skills and core competencies of communication and thinking.

Report Cards
Term 1 report cards will be available December 9 online only through the MyEd Family Portal. Paper copies of report cards will not be sent home. It is important that parents/guardians try login to your account as soon as possible to ensure you have access before report cards are issued. If you need help with your login ID or password, please email the school at fwhowayschool@sd40.bc.ca for assistance.
