Thank you for the warm welcome!

My name is Lisa Nasato and I am the Interim Principal at F. W. Howay replacing Ms. Sarah Phelan who has moved to Queen Elizabeth Elementary School. The welcome I have received from the staff, students and families has been so warm and genuine…thank you! Howay is a wonderful school and I feel right at home.

On Tuesday, October 31 we held our annual Hallowe’en Parade. One highlight of the event was the announcement that Howay’s Helping Hands reached their super goal of collecting over 800 pairs of socks for the Lookout Society Shelter in New Westminster. This meant that Mr. Bill Upton and Mrs. Lisa Nasato had to make good on their promise to kiss a dead fish once the super goal was reached. Thank you to Ms. Janet Dupuis for organizing this annual fundraiser, to Howay’s Helping Hands for their hard work, and to all families who supported SOCKTOBER!

Autumn and Winter Weather

Rainy and colder weather has arrived! Please send your children to school with clothing and outerwear appropriate for the weather (raincoats, mittens, warm winter jackets, boots). Please provide extra socks and pants for those times when students may need a change of clothes.  This is a good time to check the Lost and Found for missing jackets and other items of clothing. The Lost and Found is located in the hallway beside the front office.

In the case of inclement weather, schools will remain open. However, for more severe weather events, school closures may occur.  Click here for more information.

Again, thank you for the warm welcome to Howay. I look forward to working and learning alongside staff and students during my time here. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.
