‘We Are Rafikis’ Fundraiser 2014

November 17, 2014

Dear Parents

Mrs. Dupuis is leading Howay Helping Hands in the  next fundraiser with Free the Children. The students continue to learn about global issues and the related vocabulary and about this years focus of Empowermen

We Are Rafikis  fundraiser is focused on selling Rafiki bracelets (Rafiki meaning friend in Swahili) which are  handcrafted by mamas in Kenya. The bracelets are made with colourful glass beads threaded onto a stretchy cord. Each bracelet will sell for $10.00 with 50% of the funds raised going directly to the mamas who made the bracelets which will have a lifelong impact of change for a mama, her child and her community. The other 50% of the funds raised will go to our chosen  Free the Children project overseas (Adopt a Village) which will be voted on schoolwide (country and pillar of focus).

By purchasing these bracelets you will be supporting fair wage trade and empowering these Maasai Mamas in Kenya. Each bracelet has its own tracking number which allows you to track the impact your purchase has made and see on a map where it is supporting sustainable development efforts.

We are preordering the bracelets. It is anticipated that they will arrive well before Christmas. If you are interested in taking part please return the form below with payment in a sealed envelope or baggy by Monday, November 24th. There is no guarantee that late orders will be filled.
